Wax and wash vs Paint sealant

What is a wax? What is a sealant? Traditionally the term wax is used for a natural wax found on a natural plant “typically Palm leaves” that does a great job of providing gloss depth to paint while also offering protection from the sun. Their best property is the level of the benefits listed above while keeping costs down and effort low. The downside is it needs to be applied quite often especially on vehicles that are darker in color and stored outside in the sun. “Paint sealants” can offer gloss and depth but on a lesser level. They are synthetic lab made formulations to resist extreme heat that the metal body panels of a car reach and provide a longer lasting alternative to a natural wax, typically you can expect to see 2 or 3 months on a good natural wax on a vehicle stored outdoors and used often and 9 months on the same situation with a sealant applied. In either application, the proper cleaning agents and technique need to be used to achieve the longest durability and cosmetic benefits for your vehicle which is where a detailer with the right products and equipment can help you achieve that or help you get it properly applied and instruct you as to the adequate method to maintain that beautiful shine. Both of these options greatly benefit from a proper preparation to greatly enhance appearance and durability.
