Ceramic coatings

As a car enthusiast, I’ve always loved working on my own vehicles and making them look the best I could to my ability. With that being said, ceramic coatings can be a golden ticket to a diy’er that loves to maintain their own vehicle, take their time to make things perfect and have far a far superior finish than the vehicle left the dealer with. The benefits are incredible and near exclusive to ceramic coatings, they offer extreme water beading or sheeting which allows water to leave the paint in a hurry when rinsing off your vehicle after a wash or while its raining. The gloss left behind far exceeds the wax or sealant options. Uv protection is one of the best and durability is incredible with the proper care, however proper preparation is essential for the best result as it can make imperfections really stand out. Extensive prep and polishing is required to properly apply these with the best results. Durability typically can be expected to last about 1.5 to 5.5 years with proper washes and annual maintenance toppers to keep the ceramic coating “fed” and active.

**********BUYER BEWARE*************

As an ex dealer employee i have witnessed the “ceramic coating” jobs done and its really sad to see the consumer being taken advantage of when the cars are delivered to the dealer far from perfect and far from “application condition” of a ceramic coating. A ceramic coating needs a very pure surface to bond to and the transportation of a vehicle usually includes freight which involves a lot of iron particles being introduced into the air around it during braking for stops which rusts into the clear coat and prevents bonding of the ceramic coating. Typically at the dealerships i’ve worked at the detail shops apply the coating after a basic wash like the place around the corner does and that does not eliminate the contamination during transport and the slight imperfections in the clear coat from the factory.
